Role Description

The Junior Systems Administrator will play a critical role in remediating vulnerabilities and ensuring the security of our systems. Working in close partnership with the Information Security team, this role will focus on the resolution of vulnerabilities once identified by InfoSec, with particular emphasis on patch management, endpoint protection, and ensuring remediation tasks are followed through to completion. This position will suit someone detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to learn in a “hands-on” growth role.

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of IT administration, technical support, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with or exposure to patch management tools (Automox strongly preferred).
  • Familiarity with vulnerability remediation processes and collaboration with security teams.
  • Basic knowledge of Windows server environments, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and follow-through skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple remediation efforts concurrently with minimal oversight.
  • Excellent communication skills with a collaborative mindset for working with InfoSec, IT peers, and end users.
  • Proactive learner who actively seeks knowledge and growth opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Information Security team to remediate vulnerabilities that they identify through scanning and monitoring tools.
  • Own the patching process end-to-end using Automox, including:
    • Reviewing patching logs,
    • Ensuring successful patch deployment,
    • Identifying and resolving patch failures or exceptions.
  • Execute remediation efforts as “mini-projects” that require cross-team coordination, follow-through, and clear communication with end users and InfoSec stakeholders.
  • Provide regular updates on remediation progress, risks, and blockers to senior administrators and the InfoSec team.
  • Document remediation steps, lessons learned, and recurring issues to improve process efficiency.
  • Collaborate with end users to test and confirm that patching and remediation activities do not impact business operations.
  • Assist with ongoing endpoint security measures, such as antivirus updates, access control, and identity management.
  • Support IT team knowledge sharing by maintaining accurate records of patching cycles, exceptions, and resolution efforts.
  • Actively pursue professional development and growth opportunities, with the expectation of progressing into a broader systems administration role.
