Role Description

As a Data Scientist, you will have the opportunity to be part of a new team and bring new and innovative insights to law firms globally by leveraging data about cases, timekeeping, financials, and other operations. Your work will impact all members of the law firm from lawyers to the finance department. 

Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in: Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, or other relevant degree.
  • 4+ years experience using statistical data analysis techniques on business projects.
  • Experience working with large, complex data sets, normalizing, and building training sets and models.
  • Expertise in translating strategic questions into tactical work plans and outputs.
  • Using advanced machine learning techniques to combine and compare large data sets.
  • Experience with common data science languages and toolkits, such as R, Python
  • Experience with data visualization tools.
  • Experience with Spark
  • Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL.
  • Experience with Azure and Synapse a plus
  • Strong applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.
  • Strong scripting and programming skills.
  • Experience with machine learning and NLP techniques and algorithms a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Applying data mining techniques and statistical analysis to large amounts of data that has historically been highly underleveraged.
  • Consulting and building the ideal data environment and infrastructure that will enable data insights to be delivered through reports, leveraged in advanced forecasting offerings, and fully integrated modules within products.
  • Leverage machine learning and NLP technology to develop sophisticated data models.
  • Enhancing data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building analytic systems.
  • Processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis.
  • Conducting ad hoc analysis and presenting results in a clean, clear, and actionable manner.
  • Creating automated anomaly detection systems and constant tracking of its performance.
  • Working with product and cloud operations teams to determine how best to utilize resources.
